Larry Heckner
Larry Heckner brings 25 years of state government relations experience to Clark Lytle & Geduldig. At consumer credit giant Household International and later at HSBC - one of the world's largest financial institutions - Heckner designed, managed, and executed multi-state legislative campaigns on the full range of financial services issues, including consumer protection issues - a major focus of the emerging policy response to the current financial crisis. Most recently, Heckner helped lead a 50-state initiative, in collaboration with state banking and mortgage regulators, to enact loan originator licensing laws. Other recent activities include devising consensus solutions to contentious "front page" consumer protection legislation related to mortgage and installment lending businesses.
As Senior Vice President for state government relations at HSBC, Heckner served in national leaderships roles with the American Financial Services Association and the National Black Caucus of State Legislators Corporate Roundtable. He was also a member of the industry advisory council to the board of directors of the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry and the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators.
From 1986 to 1991, Heckner served with American Electric Power and Kedron L. Heckner and Associates, managing state government relations for the electric power industry and environmental technology clients.
A graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, Heckner currently resides in Wilmington, North Carolina. He is the proud father of two grown children.
